Investment company Alliance Trust has announced that Alan Trotter is to become its new finance director, making the move from Legal & General in early 2010. The 41-year-old qualified as a chartered accountant with Ernst & Young in 1993, where he specialised in financial services both in the UK and internationally. Currently group corporate development director at Legal & General, which he joined in 2007, Trotter has held a number of senior financial roles within various Scottish financial services institutions. Lesley Knox, chairman of Alliance Trust, said: 'I am delighted to welcome Alan to the board of Alliance Trust. His extensive experience in the financial services sector and a proven track record in senior positions in the industry make him an ideal candidate to take on the role.'
