Anti-capitalism protesters head to Canary Wharf

Anti-capitalism demonstrators are planning a protest in London's Canary Wharf at 12.30pm today.

Under the banner of 'They owe us' protestors say they will undertake 'creative civil disobedience' in one of the country's economic power centres ahead of next week's G8 summit.

Planned events include a mass assembly which organisers say will discuss 'alternatives to the systems that is creating the economic and climate crises'. Activists taking part include UK Uncut, No Dash for Gas and groups representing disabled people and pensioners.

The organisers describe the protest as 'unprecedented in the history of Canary Wharf as it is a purpose built environment for financial institutions that rarely sees large scale protests due to very high security measures'.
