Badgers to replace Britons on banknotes

Famous Brits, Winston Churchill, Jane Austen, JM Turner and Alan Turing to be replaced with images of British wildlife on new bank notes, but no pets

The decision to drop the faces of some of the country’s most well known people with a set of animals on bank notes follows a Bank of England consultation last summer, where the public chose wildlife as their preferred theme over famous landmarks and historical figures.

Over 44,000 people responded to the public consultation on a new theme with 60% choosing nature as the most popular theme while architecture came a close second at 56%, followed by notable historical figures at 38%.
