Baker Tilly has sold off the Brighton and Marlow insolvency arms of RSM Tenon, which it acquired in August, along with a part of the Scottish practice.

The firm yesterday confirmed the sale of the Brighton and Marlowe practices to Southampton-based insolvency outfit Quantuma Restructuring, set up in January by Carl Jackson, former head of recovery at RSM Tenon.

The Brighton office comprises eight staff members including partner Ian Cadlock while the Marlowe office is made up of 18 staff members including partners Frank Wessely and Peter Hughes-Holland.

According to Quantuma, the new office will be led by Hughes-Holland, Wessely and Chris Newell, who also previously worked with Jackson during his time at RSM Tenon.

Jackson said that when he launched Quantuma, he wanted to provide an independent restructuring offering to businesses and individuals in the south.

'With the opening of the Marlow office we are able to expand our coverage in this region and continue to grow the business. The recruitment of Peter, Frank and Chris, along with the rest of the Marlow office represents a significant step forward in the firm's development and I very much look forward to working with the Marlow team again,' said Jackson.

Baker Tilly also confirmed that the two partners in Scotland who have now transferred to restructuring experts FRP are Tom McLennan and Iain Fraser.

In a statement the firm said: 'We are pleased to confirm that we have reached agreement to sell part of the restructuring practice in Scotland that transferred from RSM Tenon to Baker Tilly in September. Baker Tilly retains its pre-merger restructuring and recovery practice in Scotland and we remain committed to growing our presence in the Scottish market.'
