Baker Tilly's tax advice has proved music to the ears of the UK's Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) as it sought to transfer the smash-hit musical Matilda to the US.
The firm provided tax advice to the RSC, which is a not-for-profit charitable organisation, on how to set up an overseas venture as the company made the move to Broadway.
Matilda, which is based on Roald Dahl's story of a precious girl who loves to read, is the RSC's first Broadway premiere in 15 years. The RSC took $17m (£11m) in advance bookings when the show opened, along with $4m (£2.5m) during five weeks of previews.
Graham Batty of Baker Tilly's not-for-profit team, said: 'We congratulate our client the RSC on their superb production which has proved a hit with audiences and critics alike. It richly deserves the recognition it gained at the Tony Awards yesterday and it is a great pleasure to have assisted on the business side.'
