Banned magazine director jailed after coma claim

Football magazine director jailed after running publisher while banned, claiming court date missed as he was in an ‘induced coma’

Peter Etherington, 69, of Ilkley, West Yorkshire, ran a magazine publishing company, PP Global Media Limited, which published football lifestyle magazine, Professional Footballer, and he continued to run the business while he was disqualified from being a director and received more than £100,000 in payments during his ban.

The Insolvency Service said Etherington ‘treated the disqualifications with utter contempt, hiding behind others while he continued to pull the strings’.

While disqualified as a company director for a third time Etherington ran and controlled PP Global Media for several years until he was brought to court by the Insolvency Service.
