BDO' s insolvency arm, currently embroiled in the winding up of RFC 2012 PLC, the 'new' Rangers Football Club PLC, is taking civil action against law firm, Collyer Bristow.
Administrator Duff and Phelps, the outfit used to run the oldco, originally began the action, which centres on claims that ex-owner Craig Whyte and his lawyer Gary Withey, who worked for Collyer Bristow, had 'deceived' board members about the doomed 2011 takeover.
BDO has today confirmed the action, which was raised at Royal Courts of Justice.
BDO is also involved in a counter-claim against Merchant Turnaround, a firm in which Whyte boasts a significant shareholding, through his British Virgin Islands-based Liberty Capital Ltd.
The Ibrox-based club collapsed into administration with debts of up to £124m last year.
In 2011, Whyte purchased an 85% shareholding in Rangers for £1 from Sir David Murray.
