Begbies Traynor saves jobs at law firm

Administrators from Begbies Traynor have arranged a sale out of administration which will save more than 30 jobs at a long-established West Country legal practice.

The business and assets of Eastleys Solicitors, who have offices in Paignton and Brixham, have been sold to a limited liability company called Recompense. The move means the jobs of 33 employees and two partners have been secured.

The firm of solicitors, which had a turnover of £1.2m in 2011, specialises in private client work as well as property conveyancing, civil and commercial litigation, and family and children work.

Antony Fanshawe, a partner at Begbies Traynor's Southampton office said: 'While the business had run into financial difficulties, we wanted to ensure we secured the jobs of staff and put arrangements in place to enable what is a long-standing practice to continue to undertake its work.'
