Begbies Traynor is seeking a buyer for one of Wales's leading golf clubs, which has gone into administration.
Chirk Golf Club - part of Myddelton Leisure - comprises an 18 hole championship course, a nine hole par three course and clubhouse. The club, near Wrexham, opened in 1992 and offers membership as well as daily green fees.
Nigel Price and John Kelly, partners at Begbies Traynor, have been appointed joint administrators of the company and have been tasked with operating the businesses of the club and Chirk Marina while a buyer is sought.
Guy Myddelton, the sole director of Myddelton Leisure, said: 'Trading conditions for Chirk Golf Club had been made more difficult this year by the terrible summer weather, which has affected the number of visiting golfers. However, we have a dedicated and growing membership and I hope that we can find a buyer to take the club forward following my investment in it over the last few years.'
Nigel Price, joint administrator and Begbies Traynor partner said: 'The club will be offered for sale on a freehold basis, and we believe that this represents a unique opportunity to acquire an established golf club business and its assets, two golf courses and clubhouse - all set within a perimeter of 160 acres of its own land.'
