Call waiting time for HMRC rises to 13 minutes

The latest HMRC performance figures reveal that taxpayers waited an average of 13 minutes to reach a tax official in November which is up from the 10 minutes reported the month previous

According to the November 2021 HMRC performance report, the tax authority received 2.7m calls for the month which is an increase of 500,000 from October’s 2.4m with HMRC reporting the average waiting time as 13 minutes and four seconds which is three minutes longer than October’s waiting time of 10 minutes and four seconds.

The figure reported is five minutes longer than the best waiting time recorded this year in June which sat at eight minutes and 45 seconds. HMRC recorded April as its worse month this year with an average caller waiting time of 19 minutes and 25 seconds.
