Can remote workers be treated differently to those in the office?

Remote working, whether from home or another location, has become much more widely available post pandemic – especially in its hybrid form, where employees combine time spent working remotely with on-site working.

However, some employers have started to push back on this by putting in place measures to encourage office attendance.

In this scenario, the employer operates in the publishing industry. Inn the past they have been flexible as to where staff work, either remotely or on site. Now however they want staff back on site and have told them that to receive a bonus, which has been paid in January for the last five years, they need to attend the office for a specific amount of time.
