Charity accounts part 10: charitable companies

This article, the tenth in our series on charity accounts, will focus on charitable companies’ SORP requirements, including the need to produce a strategic report and what the summary income and expenditure account should include

Charitable companies are required to meet the reporting requirements of the Companies Act 2006 in addition to the SORP.

The SORP contains a separate module setting out additional requirements which apply to charities established under company law (module 15).

Whilst Charitable Incorporated Organisations are corporate bodies, they are established under charity law, rather than company law, so they are not required to follow the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 or module 15 of the SORP.
