Charity accounts part 6: SoFA and expenditure

This article, the sixth in our series on charity accounts, will focus on the types of expenditure which must be included in the Statement of financial activities (SoFA) as soon as it is incurred and how to account for it

Expenditure will be shown in the SoFA under a functional analysis rather than by type. This will help explain the charity's activities and the heading should be chosen with care to reflect the activities and objects of the charity. It should be consistent with the annual report.
