A customer survey has been launched by the Charity Commission, the independent regulator of charities in England and Wales, to seek public views on its digital services
The online survey will remain live for six weeks and will close on 18 January at 5pm.
The survey includes questions on users’ priorities when engaging with the Commission and the preferred methods of communication.
The Commission will then use the responses to decide what it can do to improve its current digital offering and changes or additions that will improve its service overall.
Jane Adderley, head of first contact at the Charity Commission said: ‘Moving to digital brings a number of benefits including greater ability for charities to self-serve, the delivery of tailored content, and a faster service when charities do need to contact us. User feedback and input is very valuable as we continue on our digital transformation journey and this survey will be a key tool to help us understand customers’ needs and preferences going forward.
‘We also recognise that not everyone has access to online services or the necessary skills to engage with us digitally and are undertaking further work in this area to ensure trustees are supported in the move to a more digital future.’
HMRC is currently in the process of releasing the responses to its six consultations on Making Tax Digital (MTD), the complete digitalisation of the tax system for businesses, landlords and the self-employed.
An HMRC spokesperson said: ‘We have a strong record of engaging with the public on our digital plans. For example, we just recently held a wide-ranging consultation on plans for making tax digital and will publicly report our findings in due course.
We also roll out our services over time, testing them with members of the public so we can get real, meaningful feedback. This approach is working, with three-quarters of those surveyed satisfied with our digital services.’
