Companies House P&L changes expected ‘very soon’

After Accountex audience pressures Companies House over uncertainty about changes to profit and loss (P&L) filing, Department for Business & Trade steps in to clarify

On the second day of Accountex 2026, Companies House ran a seminar session on reform and accounts changes affecting small to medium sized company directors which was very well-attended with standing room only.

Sarah Whitehead, director of strategy, and Henry Vaile, principal policy advisor at Companies House were repeatedly questioned by accountants on the delayed overhaul of accounts filing rules.

Software only accounts filing, and changes to small company filing options were delayed at the start of the year, leaving companies uncertain about when they will have to disclose P&L and balance sheets at Companies House.
