Consultations and tax reviews: April 2017

This month we provide a snapshot of major tax reviews announced in Budget 2017, albeit many without fixed dates for consultations, from Making Tax Digital penalties to HMRC risk profiling for large business tax issues and taxation of benefits in kind

Making Tax Digital penalties

The government issued a consultation on the interest and penalties scheme for non-compliance with Making Tax Digital, with the aim of adopting a consistent approach across taxes. Consultation issued 20 March 2017. Closing date: 11 June 2017. Full details on penalties consultation here.

HMRC large business risk

HMRC will work constructively with businesses and interested parties to consult over the summer on its process for risk profiling large businesses and promoting stronger compliance.
