Consumers cautious about using AI

UK consumers are unconvinced with the benefits of artificial intelligence (AI), with the majority preferring to interact with a human, according to a KPMG survey

The research found that despite some consumers supporting the idea to use AI to support everyday tasks, the large majority (82%) still have concerns that prevent them from using it.

One of the biggest barriers to AI adoption was that consumers preferred to interact with a human, with more than half of those aged between 55-65 saying they would not use AI as a result.

However, this dropped to less than a third for consumers aged 18-24, who were more likely to be open to using AI.

Within this bracket, almost half (45%) reported cost as the biggest barrier to adoption, citing that AI-enabled technologies were too expensive.
