Andrew Polson, 53, from Glasgow, the former leader of East Dunbartonshire Council, north of Glasgow, and chief operating officer of Christian radio station, Revival FM, was jailed at Glasgow Sheriff Court on 19 November, after being found guilty of fraud and embezzlement.

The court heard that Polson perpetrated a ‘calculated’ fraud, which kicked off when his ex-partner, Ann Kelly, 72, was paid a financial settlement from her divorce. Between May 2021 and March 2022, Polson convinced Kelly to give him a total of £188,000, telling her he would invest it in property.

Polson set up AA Lettings, only putting his name on the title deeds of properties bought using the funds from Kelly.
