Cover Feature – The Future is Bright … Green

As the world’s environmental politerati hammer out a new climate change treaty, accountants are set to play a key role, writes Philip Smith.

There will be standing room only this month in Copenhagen as an anticipated 18,000 environmental ministers, experts, lobbyists and advisers descend upon the Danish capital. Even the odd president or two could put in an appearance. And they will have a single goal in mind, to reach an agreement on how to tackle the crucial issue of climate change.

Like Kyoto before it, Copenhagen is set to lend its name to an environmental protocol that many hope will see real progress made towards securing a sustainable future for the planet.
