DeFI lending and staking: what does it mean for accountants?

Even with the now infamous crash of last year, cryptocurrencies remain a lucrative prospect for many amateur investors. At the start of this year, one poll found that 10% of Brits had bought crypto coins and a further 20% knew someone who had.

After HMRC began sending out nudge letters to crypto investors, accountancy firms and tax advisers likely saw more demand for crypto tax advice. Or perhaps not. People are not always sure about their tax obligations, and the younger demographic that crypto tends to attract may have had little or no experience of filing a tax return or working with an accountant.
