Deloitte's head of tax policy suggests
some improvements to the UK's proposed tax avoidance legislation
Michael Meacher MP has drawn 18th place in the Private Members
Bills’ ballot for 2012/13. His Bill is entitled General Anti
Tax-Avoidance Principle and would ‘introduce a principle that
any financial arrangements made by a company or individual should
not have as their primary purpose the avoidance of tax’. The
Bill is unlikely even to be debated, due to its low place on the list.
