Based on the latest opinion polls and recent local election results, Theresa May’s Conservative Party looks set to win a sizeable parliamentary majority in the coming snap general election on 8 June.

Indeed, it could end up being a repeat of the 1983 general election playbook, where there are similarities not just in the Conservatives’ poll lead over Labour, but also in the personalities themselves (May v Corbyn compared with Margaret Thatcher v Michael Foot).
