Almost three quarters of SMEs are not reducing their carbon footprint as digitalisation, employee wellbeing, cost inflation, and recruitment take priority says Azets
According to the top 10 accountancy firm’s Spring SME Barometer, 71% of SMEs are not acting to reduce their carbon emissions and 85% are not measuring their carbon footprint as other more pressing issues were taking priority.
The survey of 1,093 SMEs from all sectors in the UK, Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, found that over half, 54%, of SMEs say they will focus on increasing digitalisation in the year ahead with aims for improved cybersecurity, data analytics, remote working, e-commerce, and process automation seen as top priorities.
The main concern was securing their financial health as cost inflation and recruitment are the ‘biggest day-to-day challenges’ as they have severe knock-on effects on cash flow and the time spent on administrative work.
