Paul Flowers, 74, cheated his friend, Margaret Jarvis, out of thousands of pounds by withdrawing cash and paying for goods and services from her bank account after she gave him power of attorney.

Flowers, the former chairman of Co-op Bank from 2010 to 2013, was jailed for three years at Manchester Crown Court on 27 February 2025.

The fraud went on for six years from 2012 to 2018, even beyond the death of Jarvis. Flowers was only caught when pension payments continued to be paid out after her death and the Co-op Bank asked for their return.
