The Pensions Regulator (TPR) has prohibited Stuart James Garner, 54, the former owner of Norton Motorcycles, from acting as a pension trustee again.

The warning notice stated that ‘Garner’s conduct and behaviours are so significant and detrimental that it is appropriate to prohibit him from acting as a trustee of trust schemes in general in order to protect future members across all schemes’.

The final decision ‘determined that Mr Garner is not a fit and proper person to be a trustee’, and that a prohibition was ‘appropriate’.

Back in March 2022 Garner, of Castle Donington, Derby was sentenced to eight months in prison, to run concurrently and suspended for two years, for each of three counts of breaching employer-related investment rules. This followed a case brought by The Pensions Regulator.
