Failures at HMRC

MPs’ criticisms of service standards at HMRC have raised concerns over staff cuts, reports Philip Smith.

Since 2005, HM Revenue & Customs has axed 30,000 staff, with a further 10,000 earmarked to go in the future.

So it comes as no surprise that MPs have uncovered ‘serious dissatisfaction’ with the tax-collecting department.
