A construction company has been wound up by the High Court after offering fraudulent investment opportunities and scamming would-be-investors out of around £1.1m

Exmount Construction Limited has been wound up by the High Court and the Official Receiver has been appointed liquidator of the company after it was found to be offering fraudulent investment opportunities which cheated people out of £1.1m.

The construction company was incorporated in 2013, and after four years of lying dormant Exmount was taken over by Joe Thomas Mason who was the only director of the company in July 2017. Since then, the company has recorded six other directors.

The company later issued a brochure for potential investors that described Mason as a chartered surveyor who had worked on retail and leisure projects for institutional clients with a combined value of more than $800m (£594m).
