FRC to review MG Rover report

The accounting regulator has begun a process of reviewing the inspectors' report into the collapse of MG Rover, published today. The 850-page report, compiled by BDO Stoy Hayward, revealed that the four directors of Phoenix Venture Holdings Limited - the consortium that bought interests from previous owners BMW - gave inaccurate information to MPs investigating the car manufacturer's collapse. The Financial Reporting Council said it will announce what course of action it would take in due course, upon consideration of the report. In the meantime, its disciplinary body, the Accountancy and Actuarial Discipline Board, is set to continue its investigation into the conduct of MG Rover's auditors, Deloitte, which began in August 2005. The AADB is expected to take BDO's report into consideration in the course of its investigation.
