Getting help: CABA awareness campaign

Whether it’s caring for elderly parents or a disabled child, or handling a bereavement, CABA can provide wide ranging support, says Natalie Worth, head of operations & finance at CABA

You cannot spend too much time at CABA without hearing what we call the ‘sock drawer story’. It is a modest tale but illustrates the kind of support we offer spouses and other dependents of chartered accountants.

Simply, a retired chartered accountant told his wife that, if he died before she did, there was a leaflet in his sock drawer and she should call the number. The people on the other end of the phone would help her.

The leaflet was from CABA and, when he passed away, we were able to offer her support in a number of ways from income maximisation through to practical help with the impact of bereavement.
