FRC considering Man City FC audit probe

Audit regulator tells MPs it is ‘examining’ Manchester City Football Club’s alleged financial breaches decision to see whether to open a formal investigation

The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has confirmed it is assessing the report into alleged financial breaches and accounting irregularities after Premier League’s independent disciplinary commission issued a heavily redacted report on 30 September claiming there were multiple breaches of financial rules at Manchester City Football Club over a nine-year period.

The regulator is working to establish whether it should launch an investigation into possible misconduct in the preparation of the financial statements and the role of BDO as the auditor.
