The IFRS Foundation, the body which oversees the setting of international accounting standards, has chosen Grant Thornton as their new external auditor, replacing BDO after more than a decade.

The decision was approved by the Foundation's trustees at their October meeting in Frankfurt, and follows a competitive tender process involving seven different firms.

BDO will continue to provide the IFRS Foundation with corporate tax services for the UK and US.
