Half of accountants stressed by workload

Stress and poor mental health are a problem for over half of accountants research by charity CABA reveals

Accountants are significantly more stressed than employees in other sectors with respondents citing the reasons why as the intense workload, long hours, and lack or margin for error, finds the latest CABA research.

The study revealed that more than half, 56%, said they were suffering with stress and burnout, compared with 41% of employees across a wide range of sectors, business sizes and job roles.

The survey results also highlight the stigma associated with mental health problems with almost half of accountants, 48%, worried about being treated differently if they disclosed their struggles and 42% feared that it would impact their career progression.
