The Yorkshire-based chartered accountancy firm Hentons has acquired chartered accountancy firm Voice & Co

The acquisition of Voice & Co, for an undisclosed sum, is Hentons’ second acquisition since the beginning of the year and follows its recent acquisition of London based Clayton Stark last month.

These latest two acquisitions are expected to see Henton’s annual turnover climb to almost £9m.

In the last three years, Hentons has acquired four firms which include York-based Forster Scott and London-based entertainment industry specialist, CC Panayi & Co, in 2018.

Voice & Co, which has offices in Sheffield and Downcaster, was established in 1990 by Hugh Voice with Mandy Guest joining as a partner in 2002. Both will join Henton’s 125 strong team alongside their eight team members across Henton’s offices in Sheffield, Leeds, York, Thirsk, and London.

In September 2021, the firm acquired the Sheffield-based Mackenzie Spencer which helped them create Hentons Corporate Finance and Hentons Legal.

Hentons now has a 25-person team based in South Yorkshire led by partner Tim Baum-Dixon offering corporate finance lead advisory services and corporate legal services.

The move will allow the firm to manage and complete business sales using the single Sheffield-based team.

Hentons stated that Voice & Co’s longstanding reputation alongside its experienced team and 500 established clients will help the firm expand further into South Yorkshire and will give them a crucial foothold in Doncaster which is an area where the firm is keen to build its presence.

Hentons managing director Peter Watson described the acquisition as a ‘great fit’ which will benefit the existing client base in the area as well as offer Voice & Co’s clients a wider range of services.

Nadeem Ahmed, managing partner, Hentons added: ‘Voice & Co’s clients now have access to an even wider range of services including our specialist tax, financial planning and corporate finance teams.

‘Smaller clients can take advantage of our market leading digital services and benefit from the cost and time savings, as well as the business insights, that cloud accounting provides. All this makes it a very exciting time for both our new Voice & Co clients and the existing Hentons team in South Yorkshire.”

Voice & Co stated that Hentons had the same approach to providing local and ‘proactive services’ to its clients.

Hugh Voice, founder and partner at Voice & Co said: ‘Mandy and I are excited that we shall have the support to enable us to take on the new clients that we are gaining.

‘It will also create potential new career opportunities for our team across Hentons’ wide-spanning divisions, as well as giving us access to the company’s in-house teams offering HR, IT, and marketing support, which made it the ideal firm to agree this sale with.’
