HMRC prepares to move corporation tax forms online

HMRC is to stop providing some corporation tax paper forms, as part of preparations to move to digital working and offer taxpayers the option to receive paper based forms electronically, AAT has highlighted

According to an external agent briefing, HMRC will stop issuing some non-statutory forms where there is already a digital alternative to obtain the same type of information.

For certain non-statutory forms where the agent and registered office address are the same on HMRC’s corporation tax system, the tax authority will stop issuing the duplicate company copy of the form.  The agent copy of the form will continue to be issued.

When there is an authorised agent registered for a customer on HMRC’s corporation tax systems, some non-statutory forms will no longer be issued to the company, but the agent copy of the form will continue to be issued.

HMRC is also to stop issuing paper versions of guidance notes with corporation tax forms and make them available digitally on GOV.UK.

HMRC says it plans to implement the changes from 15 August. The department says the move should have very little impact on agents’ ability to continue to carry out corporation tax based work on behalf of their clients, and may well make things easier and quicker.
