HMRC will keep phone lines open on SA deadline day

Dedicated self assessment helplines will be open this Saturday for taxpayers after HMRC caves to pressure and reverses decision to provide no service

With this year’s self assessment tax return deadline falling on a Saturday, HMRC originally planned to offer no phone support on 31 January, but in a welcome move, six days after stating helplines would not be available, HMRC confirmed it will be running a dedicated helpline and ramped up HMRC webchat.

The self assessment phone line will now be open from 9am to 4pm for the public for taxpayers requiring extra support. The helpline number is 0300 200 3310.
