How accountants can use artificial intelligence

The move to digital transformation presents an opportunity for leveraging the power of artificial intelligence (AI), adding significant value to businesses and freeing up accountants to focus on high ticket services, explains John Edwards, CEO of the Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA)

Although the pandemic has accelerated the shift to digital transformation, pre-Covid findings illustrated the potential influence of artificial intelligence (AI) across the sector.

According to the EY 2020 Global Tax and Transformation survey, accounting professionals spend up to 70% of their working time on tasks that could easily be done by AI within a much shorter time, while the same percentage of leaders in financial, accounting, and advisory services believe that AI will influence data-driven insights.
