ICAEW rebrands with soft launch of refreshed logo

ICAEW has rebranded with an overhaul of the website and the launch of a new logo, featuring the Economia woman from mythology - the Greek god of money - with a dagger and pair of pincers, arguably in a slightly more modern style than the current logo

The typeface of the ICAEW logo has changed, adding a more modern touch using a sans serif font.

The rebrand will be reflected across all ICAEW communications from April, including in the institute's magazine economia, and across all newsletters.

The redesign has interrupted day-to day business with the ICAEW tax faculty announcing that it will not be sending out newswires next week, stating that ‘due to website and bulk email facility upgrades, there will be no newswire email next week, Tuesday 4 April 2017. The next will be emailed on Wednesday 12 April 2017, after which we will revert to our usual Tuesday delivery’.

The front end of the website has been refreshed to reflect the new design but the faculty pages still feature the old branding.

An ICAEW spokeswoman told CCH Daily: ‘We knew it would take us several days to update all of our websites, social media etc, to the new brand ready for launch on 3 April and that started this week.

'The new brand does not officially launch until Monday.’

The symbols in Economia's hands are described as follows on the ICAEW website: ‘The rod signifies command, rudder for guidance, dividers for measurement and assessment.’

ICAEW's Twitter homepage has also been upgraded with the message, 'Connecting communities', with a backdrop of Russian matryoshka dolls.

The ICAEW has posted a flashy, watery themed promotional video on its website explaining and showing the new brand and image. The ICAEW video link is available here and more information about the rebrand will be available 'over the next few days and weeks to include futher updates and resources', the ICAEW states.

Members will not have to use the revised branding until 2018 with a deadline of 31 December 2018 set for all signage, collateral and brochures to feature the revised logo.

The redesign budget has not been disclosed.
