Black cab maker Manganese Bronze may yet find itself among new owners following confirmation from the company's administrators PwC that several would-be buyers are lining up to salvage it.

The administrator's conversations with potential buyers comes after the company's shares were suspended at the beginning of the month upon revelation of a funding crisis.

The group had been making losses for four years due to a combination of poor sales in the UK, suppy chain issues and high warranty costs. The issues were further impacted by the discovery of accounting errors in the first half of 2012, which increased the extent of the group's losses.

Manganese Bronze, which has a turnover of £75m, was also forced to urgently recall 400 cabs after a steering fault was discovered.

PwC is understood to have had about 50 expressions of interest in the company, The Telegraph reports.

'We have one of the world's most recognisable cars. We have had hugely encouraging interest already from the UK, Europe and internationally, and from motor manufacturers and financial buyers,' said PwC lead administrator, Matthew Hammond.

Hammond added that the immediate priority is to secure funding in order to explore the options rapidly developed by the management team and key suppliers to resolve the steering box recall.

'We are reviewing the existing financial position to develop a range of options to rescue the business or alternatively dispose of it to an investor that can continue the business to a secure future for the iconic London Black Cab. We have immediately commenced discussions with an encouraging list of UK and International interested parties and would encourage any further interested parties to contact us as a matter of urgency,' said Hammond.
