International reporting: IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts due in 2021

Jeroen van Doersselaere examines what organisations need to do over the next three-and-a-half years order to comply with IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts 

In May, the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) released IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts, the new insurance standard, after a decade of preparation and discussions. Now institutions impacted by the standard (insurers, banks and other issuers of insurance contracts) will need to report insurance contracts with the new standard for accounting years starting 1 January 2021.
