Investors urge companies to use ISSB sustainability standards

An increasing number of major investors is calling for wider implementation of ISSB sustainability standards even on a voluntary basis

Investors such as BlackRock, Vanguard, Capital Group and Neuberger Berman have encouraged application of ISSB standards through proxy voting guidelines.

Investors want to see faster uptake of the ISSB sustainability standards while the requirement is voluntary to provide investors with decision-useful, globally comparable information in the absence of regulatory requirements to apply ISSB standards.

However, the new standards are not mandatory in many countries including the UK so this is reducing interest.
