ISSB consults on sustainability reporting standards

The International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) has launched a consultation on its first two standards on sustainability and climate-related disclosure requirements

The exposure drafts build on the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and incorporate industry-based disclosure requirements derived from SASB standards.

When the ISSB issues the final requirements, they will form a comprehensive global baseline of sustainability disclosures designed to meet the information needs of investors in assessing enterprise value. It has not yet confirmed a timeframe for the rollout of the new climate reporting requirements but the changes are likely to be introduced in a single move, rather than drip fed, marking the urgency of the issue.
