Late payment reports set to include financial value

The government is reviewing the payment practices regulations with a view to including the financial value of late payments instead of just the number of paid invoices

The current rules must be reviewed within the next 12 months as they are due to expire on 6 April 2024. The government has already carried out a review of the basic framework and has confirmed that there was unanimous support for the rules.

The government is committed to putting the rules on a permanent basis as they are addressing a serious problem of late payment faced by SMEs by forcing larger businesses to report on their payment behaviour.
