A collapsed rescue deal to save LDV has forced the van manufacturer to apply for administration, putting thousands of jobs on the line. The company had failed to negotiate a deal with Malaysian vehicle importer, Westar, and after a last resort appeal to the government on Friday, LDV have had no choice but to apply for administration, reports The Independent LDV pledged that a £60m loan would put the company back on track but due to the Cabinet reshuffle last Friday, no ministers were able to attend a meeting with managers. The administration of LDV is likely to add £53m in unemployment benefits and lost taxes over the year. Four thousand jobs are now at risk, including those at a Birmingham base.
