It seems that hardly a day goes by without some mention of property taxes, be it the loss of higher rate tax relief on borrowing charges following the introduction of the phased rate restriction, or stamp duty land tax (SDLT). Even those whose conversations would never before have been about tax, for fear of being boring if nothing else, are now not only raising the subject in polite circles, but are freely talking about avoiding it.
