One in five owner directors plan to speed up family succession

The removal of inheritance tax breaks for owner managed businesses see 19% of owners planning to transfer their companies to family members

Changes to business property relief (BPR) removing inheritance tax (IHT) relief are forcing the directors of owner managed businesses to review their ownership structures and what tax planning arrangements are in place.

Cuts to BPR from April mean that IHT will have to be paid on privately owned businesses passed onto family members for the first time since the 1970s if no tax planning is in place.
