Robin Freestonehas been named chair of the Hundred Group of top finance directors in the UK. Previously deputy chair of the group, Freestone has been CFO at Pearson since 2006, and initially qualified as an accountant with Deloitte in 1983.
Age UK has appointed Steve Mensforth as interim finance director. Mensforth replaces the charity's first FD - since Age Concern merged with Help the Aged - and has held interim senior financial roles at National Express, Sony and Ideal Shopping Direct. Most recently he was interim CFO at GSTS St Thomas Hospital.
Clive Owen & Co LLP has hired Alan Moore as a tax partner based in the Darlington office where he will help develop the tax business. Moore has previously worked for Ernst & Young and PwC. He has extensive knowledge of international tax planning, inheritance tax planning, tax implications of acquisitions and disposals and share reorganisations. Meantime, the firm has promoted ACA Jonathan Doyle to assistant manager in the education department, focusing primarily on academy schools. He will be based in the York office.
South West accountants, Bishop Fleming has hired VAT expert David Gage as a VAT consultant to support director of VAT, Wendy Andrews. He will cover clients across the group's offices in Bristol, Bath, Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay, Truro and Worcester.
BDO has appointed three new directors in its international private wealth team, Jonathan Fisher, Aidan Meade and Lee Bijoux. Fisher joins the team having previously headed up a family office in the UK and prior to that he was a tax director at KPMG. He specialises in advising UK tax resident and non-UK domiciled individuals and their associated family offices.
Chiene + Tait Chartered Accountants has appointed Charles Abram as non-executive chairman. He brings with him a wide range of knowledge and experience from his career of over 40 years as a commercial and private client lawyer at Tods Murray LLP, where he also held the positions of managing partner and chairman.
Corporate financier Andrew Walls has joined Seneca Partners as a director in its Yorkshire operation. Walls is a chartered accountant who qualified with an independent firm of accountants and over the last ten years has held varied roles within the corporate finance, banking and property sectors. He will focus on investment funding, corporate finance advisory services and wealth management advice.
