Thamina Hannan has left her role as project accountant at Accenture, where she worked for over a decade, to join Vantis as head of outsource. Her new title will see her dealing with accounting outsourcing, payroll outsourcing and outsourced business advice services for UK businesses and subsidiaries of overseas companies. A new finance director has been appointed to the private wealth, philanthropy and partnerships law firm Maurice Turnor Gardner in the form of David Shearing. A chartered accountant, his most recent position was at City law firm Allen & Overy where he was head of capital projects. Evelyn Brady has been made a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Guernsey office. She provides assurance services to the financial services sector in Jersey and Guernsey and specialises in asset management and insurance. She joined the Channel Islands firm in 1993 from PwC in Ireland. Nexia International has appointed Simon Riley as its technical and quality manager. He has over 15 years' experience in technical roles with major accounting firms in London, Singapore and Moscow, as well as financial reporting, auditing and ethics standard-setting roles in professional accounting bodies, including the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore and the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants. Sophis, a provider of cross-asset, front-to-back risk and portfolio management solutions, has made Paul Bosson chief financial officer. He has worked as a CFO with several private equity-backed businesses and blue chip organisations. He will now be leading Sophis' finance team to support the company's global operations. Simon Cowie has been named Dealmaker of the Year in the 2009 Deal and Dealmaker awards. He is currently employed by Aberdeen-based accountancy practice Hall Morrice. He beat competition from Mike Brown of Anderson, Anderson and Brown, and David Leslie of PwC. Dean Clover has re-joined Essex-based accountancy firm Rickard Keen as audit senior. Clover joined the firm from university in 2005, gaining his ACA in 2008. He then left to spend six months travelling. He is now looking forward to broadening his experience in the audit department. Hart Shaw, the South Yorkshire-based accountancy firm has recruited a new marketing co-ordinator. Brendan Hall will be responsible for all marketing and promotional activities within the firm. He started his career in 2004 at a MTL Group, a manufacturing company in Sheffield.
