David Nish is set to take over the reins of asset management company Standard Life as of next year. Currently finance director, having been so since November 2006, he will be taking the place of Sir Sandy Crombie following a worldwide search by its chairman Gerry Grimstone. Mobile phone giant Nokia has called in a new chief financial officer in the form of Timo Ihamuotila , a move that sees him step into the shoes of current CFO Rick Simonson, who is moving up to chief executive. Currently the global head of sales, Ihamuotila joined Nokia in 1993, holding positions including Nokia corporate treasurer. Taking over the role at the beginning of this month, he will continue to be a member of the group executive board. Leonard Curtis has added to its Birmingham office with the appointment of David Griffiths as a manager. He makes the move from BDO where he was corporate insolvency assistant manager. Ernst & Young has brought in the deputy president of the Chartered Institute of Taxation as a new partner to its financial services tax practice. Vincent Oratore joins the firm from Banque AIG, where he was managing director in charge of US and foreign tax paid, cross border transactions and dividends received deductions. Ewan Rosie has joined the ranks of Cooper Parry as paraplanner, which will see him providing financial advice to high net worth clients. Having spent his placement whilst at Nottingham Trent University studying financial studies with the firm, Rosie came back to Cooper Parry upon completion of his degree. Three new recruits have jumped on board at Richard Keen, the Essex-based accountancy firm, two at its Southend office and one in Basildon. Phil Taylor and Steffanie Murdoch have been appointed to the former, while Rebecca Jones is situated in the Basildon branch. All three are trainees and will be based in the audit and accounts departments of both offices. Accountancy firm Tait Walker, which specialises in forensic investigation services, has bolstered its investigations team with the appointment of Kevin Taylor. A former Northumbrian police officer with experience in forensic accident investigation, Taylor will be carrying out independent forensic investigations on behalf of clients. Mike Washburn a qualified accountant and CEO of ScriptSwitch, a company designed to support prescribers during patient consultations, has been awarded 'Venture Capital backed CEO of the Year' at the national finals of the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association CEO Awards 2009. He was presented with the award by James Caan, entrepreneur and a 'dragon' from BBC's Dragon's Den.
