This week's news of professional moves in the sector includes a private equity partner at BDO, Bibby promotes a member of staff to CEO, Brown Shipley fills new head of lending role
Andrew Howson has joined BDO as a private equity partner after 11 years at EY. Howson specialises in providing buy-side and sell-side financial due diligence support to private equity investors, financial institutions, multi-nationals and fast-growth businesses. His experience in advising private equity and corporate clients spans multiple sectors across the UK and Europe, with a particular focus on business services.
Bibby Financial Services has appointed Edward Winterton as UK CEO. He first joined Bibby in 1996 after graduating from Sheffield University and has since held a variety of senior roles in operations and sales, most recently as commercial director. He will now join the global board and lead the businesses’ 800 staff
Richard Stubbs has joined Brown Shipley in a newly created role as head of lending, based in the London office. Previously Stubbs was an executive director as Coutts and his most recent role saw him leading a team that managed the Bank’s ultra high net worth clients within the private office. He has over 30 years’ experience in lending and will be supported by a wider team of five experienced lending specialists across Brown Shipley’s six offices, providing both secured and unsecured loans.
The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) has appointed Gerry Walsh as interim group CEO, following the recent death of David Noble. He will take up the post on 3 April until; a permanent group CEO is recruited. Walsh has previously been president of the Institute in 2006/7 and has served on both the CIPS council and board.
James Dalkin has been appointed as the incoming chair of the Consultative Advisory Group (CAG) to the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB). The CAG is an independent body including regulators, preparers, international investor and user groups, and other stakeholders with an interest in international auditing and assurance. It provides strategic and technical advice in the public interest to the IAASB. Dalkin will play a key role ensuring the CAG’s views are included in the IAASB’s deliberations. He has been an IAASB CAG representative since 2013, and has previously served as a board member of the American Institute of CPAs’ Auditing Standards Board.
