This week's news of professional moves in the sector includes 15 partner promotions at BDO, Newby Castleman gains an audit and accounts manager, Grant Thornton recruits a partner and a director in its forensic and investigation services and real estate tax team
BDO has promoted 15 partners, effective 1 July. In its audit practice David Butcher, Ollie Chinneck, Peter Smith and Fiona Condron have all been promoted to partner. Six partners join the tax practice: Andy Kelly, Matthew Emms, Neil Williams, James Paterson, Joe Newton and Angela Cross. Mike Grime (business restructuring), Ed Higgs (valuations), Harry Stoakes (M&A), Andrea Hunt (global outsourcing) and Craig Martin (transaction services) have been promoted in the firm’s advisory team. These partners are based across BDO’s London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Gatwick offices.
Newby Castleman has appointed Alex James as an audit and accounts manager in its Loughborough office. Her new role will involve overseeing all audits for clients, reviewing the work of other staff, engaging with new clients and working with charities. James has worked for the same firm throughout her career up to this point, progressing from a trainee role to a management position, where she was involved in all aspects of audit and accounts preparation. She specialises in audits and the charity sector.
Michael Radcliffe has been appointed as partner and Sarah Gatehouse as a director at Grant Thornton. Radcliffe joins the firms forensic and investigation services team and brings 14 years’ forensic accounting experience covering many sectors including natural resources, financial services and consumer products. Gatehouse joins the real estate tax team. She joins the firm with 14 years’ experience advising on real estate tax in both the legal and accounting sector. She has experience advising on UK and international real estate transactions and providing clients with due diligence, structuring, advisory and compliance work.
Lancaster-Hastins has appointed James Roden as partner, with a specialism in mergers and acquisitions. Roden has worked for a number of years across the Midlands and Wolverhampton, and brings with him valuable experience of working in industry. He will specialise in corporate finance, mergers & acquisitions and disposals.
